Efficient use of high-pressure nozzles for high humidifying and cooling output

High-pressure nozzle technology has been well established on the market for some years, particularly where smaller outputs in the range of a few 100 kg/h are involved. This technology involves humidifying water being raised to approx 80 bar working pressure with a high-pressure pump and atomized in the duct via special nozzles.

The advantages of these high-pressure nozzle humidifiers when compared with other humidifying systems (e.g. electrical steam humidifiers) lie in the low power requirement and the additional adiabatic cooling effect achieved through rapid evaporation of water aerosol formed by the nozzles.

However, a new trend can be identified towards the increased use of high-pressure humidifying for industrial applications, whether in automotive painting systems, the textile and tobacco industries, chip production or the processing of paper to make, for example, hygienic articles. Humidifiers with an extremely high output are required in these applications (1000....4000 kg/h). These not only ensure that the correct material humidity is achieved in the manufacturing process, but are also able to compensate better for thermal loads experienced in the machine park or production process, thanks to the adiabatic cooling involved. The enormous volume of electrical energy required to generate steam for these high outputs is also very often not available.

Axair AG, as the world’s leading producer of air humidifiers, can address this demand and produce high-pressure nozzle humidifiers for specific tasks that meet the special requirements of these applications.
In close cooperation with respective national representatives, consultants designing these systems and customers, Axair AG in Pfäffikon has already designed and realized many of these large systems to meet specific customer needs. Discussion of project details right from the design phase proved to be the right approach in this respect, enabling Axair AG to take conditions governing specific applications into consideration.
Each of these special systems consist of a pump station with a frequency-controlled pump and with a primary energy requirement of between 3....12kW, depending on the humidifying output, a nozzle grid with a number of high-pressure nozzles to suit the specific system and the required interface connections. An additional droplet eliminator is connected on site if necessary (i.e. depending on the length of the on-site humidifying sector).

Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you perceive a need on your part for special high-pressure nozzle humidifiers to achieve high outputs. We are always glad to be of assistance!
